Sometimes……

As unpaid carers we often get through our days surviving on very little sleep and relying on grabbing the odd power nap when we can and drinking lots of caffeine. Or we rely on painkiller to get us through the day because we have our own health issues, but we can’t stop caring because there’s nobody else to take over, so we keep on going and push through the pain barriers.

I saw the following picture on Twitter this morning and it perfectly describes how unpaid carers feel on many days.

  1. I don’t want to put words into your mouth, Mike, but counselling must be invaluable in that it means there’s somebody there for you. You’re only human, and you can’t give of yourself so relentlessly without there being someone out there who cares about you and devotes time to listening to you.

    1. It certainly is. Really helps to know that there’s somebody who will listen in a non judgemental way and who will help me build up a toolkit of coping strategies.
